Terms and Refund Policy
Last updated July 29, 2026
These terms govern purchases from montessorimakerslearning.org, operated by Montessori Makers LLC, an Illinois limited liability company. Buying anything on this site means you agree to what is written here. If something below does not work for your school or district, write to info@montessorimakers.org and we will talk it through.
1. Who we are
Montessori Makers LLC, EIN 99-3152450, Chicago, Illinois. Contact: info@montessorimakers.org.
2. What we sell
Four kinds of things, and the rules differ by kind:
- Physical goods. Printed decodable books and printed material sets, shipped to you.
- Digital downloads. PDF card sets, guides, folders, and printables, delivered as files.
- Courses. Self-paced professional learning delivered on this site.
- Software licenses. Reading Assessment Hub and Field Guide subscriptions, sold per term.
3. Prices and payment
Prices are in US dollars and are shown on each product page. Payment is processed by Stripe; we do not see or store your card number. Schools and districts can buy against a purchase order and be invoiced instead. See school and district ordering.
Sales tax is applied where required. Purchase orders are payable net 30 from invoice date unless your district requires different terms in writing.
4. Refund policy
We want the material to be right for your classroom. What follows is how refunds work by product type.
Physical goods
Returnable within 30 days of delivery if unused and in resalable condition. Write to us first for a return authorization. Refunds are issued to the original payment method once the return arrives, less the original shipping cost. Return shipping is paid by the buyer unless the item arrived damaged, defective, or was not what you ordered.
Damaged, defective, or wrong items are always our problem. Send a photo within 14 days of delivery and we will replace the item or refund it in full, including shipping. You do not need to return a damaged book.
Digital downloads
Because a downloaded file cannot be returned, digital purchases are not refundable once the file has been downloaded. Two exceptions, both without argument:
- If you have not downloaded the file yet, we will refund it in full within 14 days of purchase.
- If the file is corrupted, incomplete, or does not match what the product page described, we will fix it or refund it in full, whenever you tell us.
If you bought the wrong item by mistake, write to us. We will generally exchange it for the one you meant to buy.
Courses
Refundable in full within 14 days of purchase if you have completed no more than two lessons. After that point the course content has substantially been delivered and is not refundable. Course access runs 90 days from first login unless the course page states otherwise.
Software licenses and subscriptions
Refundable in full within 14 days of the start of a license term if the tool has not been used with student data. After that, license fees are not refundable for the remainder of the term, and you can cancel to prevent the next renewal. Free trials require no card and convert to nothing automatically.
School and district orders
Bulk and purchase-order sales follow the same rules by product type. If a purchase order was issued in error, or funding fell through before fulfillment, tell us before shipment and we will cancel it at no cost.
5. Shipping
Printed material ships from the United States, typically within 5 to 7 business days of an order or of purchase-order approval. Tracking is emailed when the order ships. Delivery dates are estimates, not guarantees, and international shipping is quoted case by case. Risk of loss passes on delivery to the carrier, but if a package goes missing, tell us and we will work it out with you rather than leave you holding it.
6. License to use what you buy
Digital material and printables are licensed, not sold. Unless the product page grants more, one purchase covers use by one educator in their own classroom or household, including printing as many copies as that classroom needs.
You may not:
- Share, resell, sublicense, or post the files publicly, including on paid or free resource-sharing sites.
- Distribute copies to other classrooms, schools, or campuses that did not buy a license.
- Use the material to create a competing product for sale.
School-wide, multi-campus, and district licensing is available and priced accordingly. Ask us rather than guessing.
7. Courses and certificates
Course enrollment is for one named person and is not transferable between staff members. Certificates of completion record that you completed the coursework. They are issued by Montessori Makers LLC and are not an accredited credential and do not carry accredited continuing-education credit. Whether your state, association, or school accepts them for professional development hours is up to that body, and we make no promises on its behalf.
8. What we do not promise
The material here is professional resource material for trained adults. It is not clinical, psychological, medical, or legal advice, and it is not a substitute for evaluation by a qualified professional. We do not promise particular outcomes for any child, classroom, or school. Every setting is different and the adults in it are the variable that matters most.
9. Intellectual property
All content on this site, including the books, card sets, course material, frameworks, and the Compass Approach, is the property of Montessori Makers LLC and protected by copyright. Frameworks and material may be used in your practice. They may not be republished, rebranded, or taught as your own program without a written agreement.
10. Liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for the item in question. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
11. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms. The version in force when you buy is the version that governs that purchase, and the date at the top tells you when this one took effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, and disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts of Cook County, Illinois.
12. Reaching us
Refunds, returns, license questions, purchase orders, and anything else: info@montessorimakers.org. We aim to reply within two business days.
